Comprehensive Microbiome Analysis for All Pets
Product Description
AnimalBiome At-Home Microbiome Test Kit analyzes your pet’s stool to profile gut bacteria and fungi and flag dysbiosis. Using 16S rRNA and ITS sequencing (5,000+ species), it provides clear reports with diversity scores, imbalance markers, and personalized diet/probiotic guidance. Easy at-home collection; results in ~2 weeks. For dogs, cats, and select small pets.
Benefits
Ingredients
Testing Technology:16S rRNA gene sequencing (bacterial identification), ITS region sequencing (fungal identification), DNA amplicon-based analysis using next-generation sequencing (NGS).
Sample Requirement:One fresh stool sample (approximately 2-5 grams collected from a fresh bowel movement).
Kit Contents:
Guaranteed Analysis
Each microbiome test analyzes bacterial and fungal DNA composition to quantify:
Bacterial Metrics:Total bacterial abundance, species richness and diversity, abundance of key bacterial taxa (Faecalibacterium spp., Turicibacter spp., Blautia spp., Fusobacterium spp., beneficial bile-acid converting bacteria, pathogenic organisms including E. coli and Clostridium species).
Fungal Metrics:Fungal species identification, abundance, and clinical significance for pets with chronic skin or digestive issues.
Dysbiosis Indicators:Dysbiosis Index (DI) calculation comparing individual pet’s microbiome to healthy species-matched references; identifies mild, moderate, or severe microbiome imbalance.
How to Use
Collect a fresh stool sample using the provided sterile swab within 24 hours of bowel movement. Register kit online using a unique ID code and complete the pet health questionnaire at the Animal Biome app. Discontinue probiotics for 24 hours before collection for accurate baseline analysis. Mail the sample in a prepaid envelope to the Animal Biome laboratory. Receive a comprehensive digital report within 2 weeks showing results, analysis, and personalized recommendations.
Recommended-Dosage Chart
| Testing Frequency | Scenario | Timing | Purpose | Notes |
| Initial baseline | All new pets | Upon purchase | Establish individual microbiome profile | Recommended before starting supplements |
| Acute GI issues | Diarrhea, vomiting | When symptoms start | Identify pathogenic organisms causing problems | Repeat after treatment for confirmation |
| Post-antibiotic | After antibiotic treatment | 2-4 weeks post-treatment | Monitor dysbiosis recovery and guide probiotic selection | Critical for restoring balance |
| Chronic digestive issues | Ongoing diarrhea, IBD | Every 3-6 months | Track microbiome shifts over time and adjust interventions | |
| Skin problems | Allergies, itching | At baseline and 8-12 weeks post-intervention | Correlate skin health with microbiome changes | |
| Preventative wellness | Healthy pets | Annually or as needed | Monitor baseline microbiome for early dysbiosis detection | |
| Treatment response monitoring | After probiotic/dietary change | 4-6 weeks into intervention | Verify treatment efficacy and adjust recommendations |
